What Are Super Troops in Clash of Clans & How to Use Them

Competition in Clash of Clans is tough, so you'll need every advantage you can get to stay ahead of your opponents, and Super Troops can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

Super Troops are a unique upgrade for your existing units, and knowing when and how to use them will be a crucial part of the next Clash of Clans meta. Let's take a look at what Super Troops are and how we can best use them:

What are Super Troops and when should you use them?

Introduced in the Spring 2020 update, Super Troops are an upgraded version of your existing units, available for a limited time.

As long as the Town Hall in your Main Village is sufficiently upgraded, you can upgrade a certain unit type by interacting with the barrel-shaped building next to the merchant.

Super Troops are very easy to use, although there are some limitations and factors you should be aware of:

Your town must be at least Town Hall 11.

Troops must meet level requirements to power up their Super versions.

Once your troop prevails, that super troop will be available for one week.

While active, your Super Troop replaces the regular version in the Barracks. You can only train the super version if that boot is active.

You can donate Super Troops to Clanmates as reinforcements.

When the super buff expires, unused Super Troops remain in their Barracks until they are used or donated.

After 7 days have passed, you will not be able to use the same Super Troop for another 7 days. However, you can still convert your other existing Troops to their Super versions.

Only one Super Booster is available at a time.

Each Super Troop has a trial mode that allows you to perform a special app attack using that Super Troop, so you can try it out before joining the Super perk.

Therefore, you should save money by using the Super Troop upgrade for a particularly difficult encounter, as only one unit type can be upgraded at a time, and there is a significant cooldown before upgrading the same unit again.

There are currently only four units that can be upgraded (Super Barbarian, Insidious Goblin, Super Wall Breaker, and Super Giant), but new Super Troop types will arrive in future updates.
